Have you been to Hyde Brewing (or rather, The Suffolk Punch) yet? Directly off of the New Bern light rail stop in South End, it's a taphouse, coffee bar, and culinary café all in one. Naturally, being Work For Your Beer, we were chiefly excited by the taphouse aspect, and wanted to learn more about the beer selection.

Despite the cold snap we've experienced this week, temperatures in Charlotte are on the rise, and we found the ideal Hyde Brewing beer to help you feel like spring has truly sprung: "Citrus Savvy" pale ale.

Read on to learn more about our local beer of the week, the brewery it came from, and the fitness activities they've got to offer Charlotte's active beer-lovers.

The Beer: Citrus Savvy

This wheat pale ale is just the bright, happy beer you need to start feeling springtime vibes here in Charlotte. It's brewed with a touch of orange peel and coriander, and topped with a heavy-handed dose of lemondrop hops. Expect citrus notes of orange and lemon from this 5.35% ABV ale, balanced by a soft, crackery malt character from the wheat. Light and refreshing, this is the ideal brew to enjoy after the Monday night bootcamp at The Suffolk Punch every week at 6:30 PM.

The Brewery: Hyde Brewing

To clear up any confusion: Hyde Brewing is the brewery within The Suffolk Punch. We were (very pleasantly) shocked to learn that The Suffolk Punch has 48 taps—featuring both Hyde Brewing beers as well as guest tap—on the inside of their South End space, in addition to eight Hyde Beer taps on the covered, dog-friendly outdoor patio. Not feeling beer? No worries. They've also got a rotating wine list, specialty cocktails, and a full craft coffee bar.

Beyond all those beverage options, The Suffolk Punch also offers farm-to-table menu providing an upscale eating experience. Check out their dinner menu, or stop by for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM to 3 PM.

The Fitness Activities: Bootcamp & A Beer

Every Monday at 6:30 PM, you can kick your week off with a full-body workout at Bootcamp & A Beer at The Suffolk Punch. This weekly fitness class requires no equipment, and it is led by certified strength conditioning specialist and master fitness trainer, Tyler Verink. For $5 (cash only!) you get the class itself as well as a Hyde Brewing beer after you're done.
