Peanut butter and jelly, beer and pretzels, summer and rosé—some things are just meant to go together.

But no one said that rosé had to come in the form of wine.

This summer, the Work For Your Beer team has been on the hunt for some light, summer-y drinks that are gluten free, but lower in ABV than wine or liquor so that we can have a few in one sitting. And thankfully, a locally crafted rosé cider is just the thing we've been searching for.

Read on to find out more about our drink of the week, the cidery that brewed it, and the fitness activities they've got to offer.

The Drink: "Red Clay Rosé"

You've had wine. You've had cider. But you can have the best of both worlds with Red Clay Rosé. The gorgeous pink hue of this 6.7% ABV libation comes from the strawberry and black currant it was brewed with. Expect floral aromatics and subtle fruit hints, but don't worry—the extra tannins from the black currant balance out the slight sweetness and acidity, resulting in a smooth and semi-dry finish.

The Cidery: Red Clay Ciderworks

In July 2015, Red Clay Ciderworks came onto the scene as Charlotte's first cidery. In the three years since, Red Clay has been crafting distinct, dry ciders using fresh-pressed juice from North Carolina for a naturally gluten-free hard cider that is beloved in the Queen City and beyond.

The taproom is located at 245 Clanton Rd., just off of I-77 or a quick five-minute walk from the light rail's Scaleybark Station. Want to check out what's behind the scenes? You can take a free cidery tour on Thursdays and Fridays at 7 PM, or Saturdays and Sundays at 12:30 PM and 1 PM. No reservations required!
