Disclosure: We received weekly meal deliveries from The Good Kitchen throughout the month of May 2017 to test out and review their meal subscription services. Here's what we learned.

If you're anything like us, you're always looking for "life hacks"—those things that will make it easier for you to live a healthier, balanced lifestyle without putting more work on your plate.

When you're always on the go, it's tough to find the time to cook healthy meals! Seriously, as much as I'd love to be the girl who wakes up and goes to the Farmers' Market every weekend, then uses the locally sourced meat and produce I bought to cook elaborate, healthy, delicious meals for myself... That ain't me. I'm lucky if I have time to swing by the grocery store to buy a few frozen meals that won't go bad when I inevitably run out of time to make myself dinner because I'm too busy running from one event to the next. I know my co-founder Melanie feels the same way.

So, when The Good Kitchen offered to send fresh, fully-prepared meals straight to our doorstep every week, we were ecstatic! Mel had previously ordered meals through this company back when they were still ModPaleo, and she loved that the meals were paleo, organic, and made with non-GMO ingredients. (Basically, they're healthy as hell, which we were very excited about).

We agreed to test out and review their meal delivery service, and we could have cried tears of joy imagining the time we wouldn't have to spend at the grocery store or in the kitchen for the coming month.

What Is The Good Kitchen?

Straight from the source: The Good Kitchen has made it easy to heat-and-eat delicious, high quality, prepared meals that can be delivered wherever and whenever you want them. They make sure their farmers and producers meet the highest ethical and sustainability standards. From there, they artfully craft all of the ingredients into delicious, chef-driven meals that are as tasty as they are healthy.

When Amber and Melissa first started The Good Kitchen, they had a simple concept in mind: to make nutritious, healthy and great tasting meals easily accessible to everyone. So many of us have so much on our plates these days that it becomes hard to prioritize everything. No matter how busy we are, we shouldn’t have to compromise on our nutrition. Finding organic, sustainable and responsibly-sourced meals while balancing out life should be easy. And now it is, thanks to the fine folks at The Good Kitchen.

How Does It Work?

One of the first things that we loved about The Good Kitchen was how easy it was to submit our meal orders.

We went to the website and scrolled through the meal selection—row after row of meals that made our mouths water. BBQ chicken over springtime vegetable risotto. Mixed mushroom and asparagus marsala over zucchini noodles. Iron Man burger with green bean and shiitake salad. Beef Bourguignon with garlic roasted mashed potatoes. The list goes on and on! We finally made our choices, saved our meal selection, and entered our address information.

That was it! The meals showed up on our doorstep the following week, packaged with ice packs to keep them cold until we got home from work.

What Did You Think of The Good Kitchen?

We. Are. Obsessed.

We expected that our favorite part of our experience with The Good Kitchen would be that the meals themselves are so healthy—which of course, we loved. But you know what our actual favorite part was? These meals are pre-packaged. They come in their own sealed containers, and all you do is put them in the microwave for three minutes, and BOOM, they're ready to eat! Plus, it meant we didn't have to do dishes! We were in love from the first meals we heated and ate.

Prior to this experience, I always thought that signing up for any meal subscription service would make my life easier. And it probably would. But you know what? Now, I feel like I honestly don't have the time to be sent a bunch of ingredients and a recipe, then to cook it all myself, then to wash all of the dishes. The Good Kitchen has totally spoiled me!

The idea that I can come home and pop a container into the microwave for three minutes, eat a delicious and healthy meal, then throw away the container without having to wash anything more than the fork I ate with? That's phenomenal.

I truly feel like the Good Kitchen has created a product that revolutionizes people's lives. I haven't had to worry about my nutrition for 31 days. Usually, what actually happens is that I worry about my nutrition, then I'm too busy to do anything about it, so I eat something unhealthy, then I regret it immediately. And the cycle repeats. This month, I didn't have those battles with myself. I just got to eat healthy food, with all the convenience of eating unhealthy food. It was a win-win.
