Here at Work For Your Beer, we’re all about community! We love highlighting members of Charlotte’s beer fitness community to shed some light on why they work for their beer (or ‘booch) and why you should join in the fun.

If you’re one of the strong and brave souls who’s checked out our Lenny Boy Brewing Sip & Sweat class, chances are you’ve met Lamaar Steadman. Through all the sweat and hard work, he’s the one shouting words of encouragement and radiating positivity. He’s always in a good mood, ready to do work, and of course, handing out all of the high-fives.

In Lamaar’s opinion, “Work For Your Beer is the greatest of all the work out classes,” and we couldn’t agree more.

Read on to learn more about Lamaar and stop by Sip & Sweat on Sundays to say, “Hi!” and get the best high-five in the Queen City.

Name: Lamaar Steadman

Age: 37

Occupation: Insurance Sales

Neighborhood in Charlotte: Shopton & S. Tryon

How long have you been attending fitness classes? I’ve been hitting the gym ever since I moved to Charlotte five years ago from Indiana. I started attending Work For Your Beer classes in March and have been at Sip & Sweat pretty much every Sunday since.

Which brewery fitness classes do you attend? Lenny Boy Sip & Sweat, of course, and Lenny Boy Run Club. I also attend classes at Sugar Creek Brewing and Unknown Brewing.

What made you start attending group fitness classes? I got tired of just going to a gym. I wanted to do something different. I knew Crossfit was something worth doing but it’s very expensive and with the amount of time that I have, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to get my money’s worth. A friend of mine said ‘Hey, try this,” and the rest is history. I don’t know how anybody could not be a part of this.

What’s your favorite part of going to brewery fitness classes? The Kombucha, of course. The reward after class is the best.

Which brewery fitness class has been the most challenging for you? Trying to convince other people to come join the fun. Too many people are afraid to try it or make the time to take care of their health.

What is your favorite kind of group fitness class? I like the kind that gets you off your butt.

What’s one thing you would want to tell somebody who was considering attending a brewery fitness class? Don’t consider it. Do it. Stop thinking and start doing. Get off your butt and come and join. What’s $5 to a healthy and fun experience?

What’s your favorite beer in Charlotte? I don’t drink beer, but my favorite Kombucha is a mixture of Lenny Boy’s Strawberry and Mint.
