Meet Work For Your Beer Brand Ambassador: Rebecca Moriarty
Jul 02, 2018
In case you weren't already aware, our Work For Your Beer brand ambassadors are an amazing group of active beer-lovers who are just as excited to grow the beer fitness community as we are.
You're likely to see them out at a Work For Your Beer event, a beer festival, or a brewery fitness class doing what they love: working out, drinking beer, and making friends.
We love highlighting our incredible brand ambassadors and letting them tell you in their own words why they choose to work for their beer -- and why you should, too.
Next up in our "Meet the Brand Ambassadors" series is Rebecca Moriarty. Read on to learn more about Rebecca and why she loves to work for her beer.

How did you first find out about Work For Your Beer? I saw some of the Work For Your Beer events on Facebook and went to a couple yoga and bootcamp classes at Lenny Boy with some friends. I learned way more about the company, though, when I went to an event and had an awesome conversation with Mel (over a pony keg of a banging IPA, of course!).
What made you want to be a part of the Work For Your Beer community? When I moved to Charlotte, I didn’t know anyone besides my fiancé. I needed to branch out on my own and meet people outside of his group of friends. It was important to me to have my own friends and build my own sense of community in my new city, so I started attending workout classes with girls from a local fitness group (shout out to my Tone It Up Charlotte girls!).
They are now some of my closest friends, and I wouldn’t have them if it weren’t for the local fitness community. I love that Work For Your Beer helps bring together people who have things in common, especially when those things are passion for beer (and wine!) and fitness. It provides an awesome opportunity to meet new people and explore a lot of what this great city has to offer. So when the opportunity came up to be a part of this team, I couldn’t resist! How long have you been attending fitness classes? I’ve played sports my whole life so I’ve always been pretty active, but I really got into working out about five years ago when I was living in New York City.
Which brewery fitness classes do you attend? Yoga, Twerk For Your Beer, and Barre, mostly. But I do like a good bootcamp class mixed in there!
What motivates you to work out? How great I feel after a workout. It's a feeling like no other! Right now, it’s my wedding (November!), but in general I want to live a long, healthy, and active life. I want to be able to indulge in a healthy balance of eating and drinking without feeling guilty about it. Because frankly, I love wine and cheese and chocolate. The post-workout high is pretty great, too.
What’s your go-to pump up song? Is there really just one? It depends on my mood but here are a couple of my current favorites: Breathe by Jax Jones. Woman by Kesha (Girl power!). And anything by Biggie, always.
What made you start attending brewery fitness classes? When I first moved to Charlotte two years ago, I was unemployed. I couldn’t afford to join a gym or get a membership at any group fitness studio, so when I saw on Facebook there were all these classes I could take for $5 - $10 that came with a beer, I was sold.
What is your favorite kind of brewery fitness class? It's a tossup between Yoga and Twerk For Your Beer.
What’s your favorite part of going to brewery fitness classes? Meeting new people and getting to let loose a little. To me, brewery fitness classes are less intimidating than other group classes. The environment is more laidback and you don’t feel the need to compare yourself to the people around you. It’s nice to be able to laugh at yourself when you can’t hold a yoga pose instead of feeling bad about it.
Which brewery fitness class has been the most challenging for you? There was a barre class held by First Wind every other Sunday and it killed me. I’d be sore for days afterward.
What’s one thing you would want to tell somebody who was considering attending a brewery fitness class? Just do it. Grab your mat and your beer and step outside your comfort zone. You never regret a workout, and you might walk away with some awesome new friends.
What’s your favorite beer (or ‘booch) in Charlotte? I’m really feeling Sugar Creek’s Raspberry White Ale.
Why do you love Work For Your Beer? 1) The community and being able to surround myself with people who have the same interests and passions that I do. 2) It does all the work for you! All you have to do is check out the calendar on their website on any given day and you can find out every single beer fitness class that is happening. It seriously couldn’t be any easier.
