The temperature may have dropped, but motivation has skyrocketed as we head into the New Year!  ​

While it may be difficult to stay on top of your New Year's Resolutions because of the chilling weather outside, we think it's easier to stay motivated when you're actively working towards a goal. What better goal to run toward than a road race?  

Check out these upcoming races where you can work for your beer and get a healthy start to the new year.

January

Charlotte Running Company Trail Race

Distance: 4, 9, or 13 miles

When: Saturday January 20th at 9 AM

Where: US National Whitewater Center Charlotte, 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28214

Cost: $45+

Anything else? Parking at the USNWC is $6, unless you have an annual parking pass.


Charlotte Running Club Winter Classic 8K & 4K

Distance: 8K (4.97 miles) or 4K (2.49 miles)

When: Saturday January 27th at 1 PM

Where: 8711 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC

Cost: $40+

Anything else? ​Charlotte Running Club is raising money for the Bring it 4 Braylon Foundation, a foundation established to help alleviate the burden associated with pediatric cancer by providing comprehensive support to families and individuals who are fighting the disease.

 

February

Hot Chocolate 15K/5K

Distance: 15K (9.3 miles) or 5K (3.1 miles)

When: Saturday February 10th at 7:45 AM

Where: Belk Plaza, Charlotte, NC

Cost: $54+

Anything else? What better way to celebrate post-race than with chocolatey treats!  


14th Annual Cupid's Cup 5K

Distance: 5K (3.1 miles)

When: Saturday February 17th at 8 AM

Where: Freedom Park, Charlotte, NC

Cost: $25+

Anything else? Proceeds from this race benefit Cardiac Rehabilitation programs at Carolinas HealthCare System.  


Charlotte 10-Miler & 4-mile run

Distance: 10 or 4 miles

When: Saturday February 17th at 7:30 AM

Where: Ballantyne, 12235 North Community House Road Charlotte, NC 28277​

Cost: $35+

Anything else? Stick around after your finished for a post-race mimosa celebration (added cost of $10).

 

March

​RunJenRun 5K

Distance: 5K (3.1 miles)

When: Saturday March 3rd at 8 AM

Where: Symphony Park SouthPark, 4400 Sharon Rd Charlotte, NC 28211​

Cost: $30+

Anything else? All proceeds from this race will benefit the GoJenGo Foundation, a community brought together to assist people in their fight against breast cancer.  


Cabarrus Brewing United Way 5K

Distance: 5K (3.1 miles)

When: Saturday March 3rd at 5 PM

Where: Cabarrus Brewing Company, 329 McGill Avenue Concord, NC

Cost: $25+

Anything else? Stick around after the race to sample some brews from Cabarrus Brewing Company.  


BB&T Corporate Cup  

Distance: Half Marathon (13.1 miles) or 5K (3.1 miles)

When: Saturday March 10th at 7:40 AM

Where: Uptown Charlotte

Cost: $30+

Anything else? Charlotte area business and community groups are encouraged to engage in friendly competition by participating in the Team Challenge.  


Shamrock 4 Miler

Distance: 4 miles

When: Saturday March 17th at 8 AM

Where: 7832 Rea Rd Charlotte, NC US 28277

Cost: $25+

Anything else? Runners are encouraged to get in the sprit of St. Paddy's Day by wearing green.


Color Me Green 5K Trail Run

Distance: 5K (3.1 miles)

When: Saturday March 17th at 10 AM

Where: US National Whitewater Center Charlotte, 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28214​

Cost: $35+

Anything else? This race is untimed. Runners are encouraged to wear white as they will be painted with green dye throughout the trail. Awards will be given to the greenest participants and cleanest participants (for those trying to avoid the green dye).  


Elizabeth 8K Road Race

Distance: 8K (4.97 miles)

When: Saturday March 24th at 8 AM

Where: Hawthorne Recreation Center at Independence Park, 345 Hawthorne Lane Charlotte, NC 28204

Cost: $25+

Anything else? This is Charlotte's oldest road race! Proceeds from the race benefit the Elizabeth Community Association and TreesCharlotte.
