Salt, spice and everything nice are the ingredients for our newest local beer of the week. Picture your favorite spicy margarita, throw in some bubbles, and put it in a pint glass! Our local beer of the week brings the heat as our temperatures begin to drop.

Read on to learn more about our local beer of the week, the brewery that crafted it, and the fitness activities they’ve got to offer Charlotte’s active beer-lovers.

The Beer: Spicy Margarita Gose

Our local beer of the week brings the heat as our temperatures begin to drop. This sour and salted German wheat beer genuinely tastes like a spicy margarita, but in beer form. It’s light, tart, and fruity with a spicy kick from fresh jalapenos and cayenne pepper. At 5.2% ABV and 7.1 IBU, it’s on the lighter side and boasts barely any bitterness. This brand new small batch brew will only be around during the month of November, so stop by to spice things up while you can!

The Brewery: Catawba Brewing Co.

Catawba Brewing Co. has four locations: one in Asheville's South Slope, one in the Biltmore Village area of Asheville, one in downtown Morganton, and one right here in Charlotte.

In the Queen City's Belmont neighborhood (right near Advent Coworking, Intermezzo, and Central Coffee) Catawba has a 10,000 sq. ft. taproom and brewery, open seven days a week. They also recently opened The Barrel Room at Catawba, a 4,300 sq. ft. private event venue located directly behind the brewhouse.

Looking for a new game day spot? Look no further, because Catawba officially purchased NFL Sunday Ticket, which means you can watch every game with a Catawba brew in hand. They also host an amazing brunch every Sunday from 11 AM - 2 PM, so now, you can spend your whole day there!

You have to check out their patio. It's got plenty of seating, an outdoor walk-up bar for you to order your beer from, a triad of hammocks for you to lounge in, and a gorgeous view of the Charlotte skyline.

The Fitness Activities: Run Club & Pop-Up Workouts

Catawba Brewing Co. Run Club occurs every Tuesday at 6:30 PM. This club completes a five mile out-and-back route (which means that you can run any distance up to five miles—just turn around when you're ready to head back to the taproom). It's a totally free event, but runners are encouraged to stick around for a brew or two with friends.

Catawba also plays host to a variety of pop-up workouts, which you can keep up with on the Work For Your Beer calendar (as well as Catawba's Facebook events).
