Brewery Spotlight: Metric Brewing in Colorado Springs, CO
During our recent trip to Colorado Springs, we visited various craft breweries — one of our absolute favorites was Metric Brewing.
In this interview, we spoke with Morgan Perry, Co-Owner of Metric Brewing. We learn all about what makes Metric unique in the Colorado Springs brewing scene.
About the Brewery
Work For Your Beer (WFYB): We are pumped to learn more about Metric Brewing — when did y'all open and What’s one fact folks don’t know about your brewery?
Morgan (M): We opened in 2018. People are often surprised that we brew on location and that we're pet-friendly inside and out!
WFYB: We LOVE a good pet-friendly brewery! What would you say makes your brewery unique?
M: We're rolling out new beers weekly! From crisp lagers to funky sours, the taps are always pouring something new.
WFYB: Yum! Fresh brews are the best brews!
Let’s Talk Beer
WFYB: Speaking of fresh brews, what are your most popular beers on tap?
M: Our Florida Man (Key Lime Pie Sour) or Mom Jeans (Raspberry Kolsch).
WFYB: Honestly, just love the name Mom Jeans — well done. What beer is your team the proudest of brewing?
M: That would be Vaporwave, our Rosè Gose with pink Himalayan Salt.
WFYB: Yum! We'll take one (or three), please! Now, what's the weirdest beer Metric has brewed?
M: Catalina Wine Mixer, a White Grape Must Saison. The grape must was a killer. Never again.
WFYB: Ha — oh boy! Wish we could have given that one a try. Now, one of our classic questions: if you had to build the perfect Metric Brewing six-pack, what beers would you include?
M:
Festbier (Festbier Style)
Vexilar Red (American Red Ale)
Pascal's Treasure (Belgian Tripel)
Corduroy (Kolsch)
Red Wedding (Blood Orange & Hibiscus Wit)
Tiny Goodbite (Belgian Dubbel)
WFYB: This is a great variety — our pal Hoppy Hayes would love that Tripel!
Let’s Focus on Community
WFYB: On to our final category of questions: community! How does Metric Brewing give back to the Colorado Springs community?
M: We support the community in a variety of ways:
We have a rotating "local artists" art gallery inside the taproom.
We sponsor various fundraisers and pint night charity donations throughout the year.
We are a part of the local Water Brewshed Alliance.
We host coat and blanket drives during the holidays.
We participate in Colorado Give Day.
Finally, we also host Humane Society and pet adoption donation/pint days.
WFYB: That's incredible! We love to see a variety of non-profit efforts. How do you make sure your brewery is inclusive?
M: I think people in town recognize our brewery for the fact that we're warm to all and our door has always been open to everyone. We've always had that vibe.
WFYB: We felt that as soon as we walked through the door! To keep on-brand, we have to ask: what brewery activities or fitness events do y'all host?
M: We host a full moon running event every year! It's part of the Brewers Cup running club. Bike to Work Day is always cool!
WFYB: We love the idea of a full moon run! How cool! Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us today — we always love learning more about our favorite breweries we hit while traveling!
Shout out to Morgan for taking the time out of his day to chat with us. If you're in Colorado Springs, pop by the brewery and make sure you tell them Work For Your Beer sent you!
