About the Brewery
Mel with Work For Your Beer (WFYB): We are so excited to feature NoDa on the Work For Your Beer blog. Let's start simple: what year did you open and what’s one fact people don’t know about your brewery, beer, or taproom?
Addie (A): NoDa Brewing opened in 2011. Our flagship IPA, Hop Drop ‘N Roll, began as a homebrew brewed by owner Todd Ford!
WFYB: Very cool! I had no idea! What would you say makes your brewery unique? Why should someone stop by your taproom versus any other brewery in Charlotte, NC?
A: NoDa Brewing Company’s taprooms take pride in being family (and dog)-friendly with their large beer garden and patio space. We brew a range of beer styles to ensure that everyone (21+) can find a style to enjoy.
WFYB: We definitely feel how inclusive the brewery is — love it!
Let’s Talk Beer
WFYB: What's the most popular beer style you sell?
A: India Pale Ale
WFYB: Fair enough — loves of IPA lovers in Charlotte, huh? What beer is the team the most proud of brewing?
A: All of them! Right now, Lil SLURP Juicy India Pale Ale.
WFYB: Awesome — we love that you're proud of the variety of brews you offer. What would you say is the weirdest beer you've ever brewed?
A: Weird may be subjective, but our whole SLURP series is brewed using Thiolized yeast to bring out fruity, citrusy characters and to highlight the hops used. Each beer has been a fun experiment for our brewers.
WFYB: Experimenting has to be one of the most fun parts of being a brewer. The SLURP series is a fun one, for sure! Now, if you had to make the perfect mixed six-pack (of your own brews), what beers would you include in it?
A:
Hop Drop ‘N Roll - India Pale Ale
Lil SLURP - Juicy India Pale Ale
Cheerwine Ale - Wheat Ale made with Cheerwine
Lager Days - Lager
Gordgeous - Pumpkin Ale
Coco Loco - Porter with Cocoa Nibs and Coconut
WFYB: What a fun variety!
Let’s Focus on Community
WFYB: How do you give back to the Charlotte community?
A:NoDa Brewing Company is committed to giving back to our community through monthly charity rounds ups in our Charlotte taprooms and hosting regular You Drink, We Donate nights where we donate $1 from every pint sold to local charities.
WFYB: It's always great to see breweries partner up with local non-profits! How do you make sure NoDa is a safe and inclusive space for both your patrons and your staff?
A: We have a code of conduct we all abide by. You can view that Code of Conduct here.
WFYB: Having a public code of conduct is amazing — thank you for pulling that together! Okay, final question, and it's #WorkForYourBeer-themed. What brewery activities or fitness events do y'all host?
A: NoDa Brewing Run Club meets every Wednesday and Sunday for 1, 3, or 5-mile runs. In the past, we’ve hosted NoDa Hop Yoga - a one-hour yoga class for yogis of all levels.
WFYB: Your run club is one of the OG run clubs in Charlotte — y'all always get a great turnout!
