How to Spend a Weekend in Columbus, OH If You Love Craft Beer & Being Active
Look, we're not gonna beat around the bush. Both of us (Mel and Alicia, co-founders of Work For Your Beer) are originally from Pennsylvania. We originally met at Penn State, where we sang some... not so nice songs about a certain university in Ohio. So, a visit to our neighboring was not exactly something we were expecting to add to our craft beer travel bucket list.
But lo and behold, we found ourselves absolutely delighted to explore all the fun neighborhoods and unique breweries that Columbus, Ohio had to offer! If you're considering a weekend trip to this welcoming Midwest city, we've got just the guide for you.
WHERE TO STAY
This all depends on how you like to travel! In our case, Mel earns Marriott points through her credit card (she's so smart), so it's an easy decision for us to select Moxy Columbus Short North as a go-to hotel option. Because really, unless you knew in advance that this was a Marriott property, you'd totally walk through the front doors and think you were stepping into boutique accommodations.
For starters, when you arrive at this modern hotel, you'll check in at The Bar — and along with your room key, you'll be greeted with a drink token that can be redeemed for your libation of choice. You can use that drink token anytime, since food and beverage options at this hotel are available 24/7, and you'll get the most bang for your buck if you use it during one of the three daily happy hours. And don't worry, they've also got a state-of-the-art gym to keep you on top of your health and wellness routines while you're away.
Prefer to stay in a rental? Consider a stay at The High Street Hideaway, a Superhost on Airbnb offering a private corner unit in a centrally located condo building in the Short North neighborhood of Columbus, just steps away from some of the city's best restaurants, cafes, and nightlife. The queen-sized bed is ridiculously comfortable, and you'll be all set to Netflix and chill with an Alexa voice remote, SmartTV, and cozy sectional sofa.
