Where to Stay: The Sandman Hotel

Nestled in the heart of Santa Rosa, The Sandman Hotel offers the perfect blend of comfort, affordability, and convenience for your weekend getaway. This retro-chic boutique motel-turned-hotel boasts stylish rooms, a sparkling pool, and a laid-back atmosphere that will make you feel right at home.

Conveniently located near major attractions (our favorite being a Trader Joe's in walking distance) and just a short drive away from the stunning natural wonders of Sonoma County, The Sandman Hotel provides the ideal home base for your adventures in Santa Rosa.

Our favorite part? They host "yoga in the dome" on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings. We highly recommend checking it out (and working for your beer and/or wine!).

Cost: $98 - $109/night (depending on the date, of course)

Things to Do

1. Hike the Redwoods at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve

Escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. Just a 30-minute drive outside of Santa Rosa, this enchanting forest is home to towering redwood trees that will leave you in awe. Lace up your hiking boots and explore miles of scenic trails, marveling at ancient giants that have stood for centuries.

We knocked out the East Ridge and Pool Ridge Short Loop (a 4.4-mile hike that seriously got our hearts pumping).

Cost: $10 per car

2. Grab a Beer at Moonlight Brewing Company

After a day of hiking, quench your thirst with a cold pint at Moonlight Brewing Company. This brewery is known for its traditional, pre-industrial brews. You won't see any "hype" beers here. They are most known for "Death & Taxes" — a "deceptively light-bodied and highly drinkable San Francisco-Style Black Lager." We highly recommend grabbing a flight and trying a variety of their lagers. Plus, it's partially women-owned which we love!

Cost: $20 for a flight (and a good tip!)

3. Rent a Pedego eBike and Do a Wine Tasting at Hook & Ladder

Experience the beauty of Sonoma County's wine country in style with a Pedego eBike rental. Cruise through rolling vineyards and picturesque countryside as you make your way to Hook & Ladder Winery via the Greenway. Indulge in a guided wine-tasting experience and savor the flavors of Sonoma while soaking in panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Then, enjoy an amazing cruise back to the heart of Santa Rosa to drop off your bike (and grab a bite to eat at Belly).

Cost: $35 per person for two hours (bike rental) or $149 per person for a guided wine tour viaeVenture Sonoma

4. Check Out the Museum of Sonoma County

Immerse yourself in art and history at the Museum of Sonoma County. Located in downtown Santa Rosa (very close to the mall!), this dynamic museum showcases a diverse array of exhibits highlighting the region's art, history, and heritage. From contemporary art installations to interactive historical displays, there's something for everyone to explore and discover at the Museum of Sonoma County.

We were lucky enough to check out their craft beer exhibit titled "On Tap: Sonoma County Hops & The Beer Revolution"

Cost: $10 per person

We hope the next time you're in Santa Rosa you check out a few of our favorite things! Let us know over at @workforyourbeer. Cheers!
