Brewery Spotlight: Salud Cerveceria in Charlotte, NC
Welcome to our brewery spotlight series where we get to know some of our favorite breweries in the craft beer industry.
Last time, we spoke with James Amato, the owner of Divine Barrel Brewingout of Charlotte, NC.
This week, we spoke with Dairelyn Glunt, one of the owners of Salud Cerveceria out of Charlotte, NC.
Work For Your Beer (WFYB): We are always excited to chat with you, Dairelyn. Let's jump right into it. What’s the most popular beer style you sell?
Dairelyn (D): The Berlinerweisse.
WFYB: We always love trying the new Berlinerweisses that come out of Salud. We are curious to know: what beer are you most proud of brewing?
D: The Banana keys stout.
WFYB: Oh, man. We've tried that one, and it is goooooood. How about the weirdest beer you’ve ever made (whether you sold it or not)?
D: Butterfly Pea Flower Saison (it was the most beautiful beer with a purple hue).
WFYB:Wow, that sounds lovely! Now, let's transition... if you had to make the *perfect* mixed six-pack, what beers would you include in it?
D: In no particular order:
WFYB: Sounds like the perfect six-pack — a little bit of everything!
WFYB: How do you contribute to your local community?
D: We love hosting local groups, and we do many events with The Mint City Collective NoDa Chapter. We’ve brewed a few beers and all proceeds have gone to Emancipate NC and The Immigration Network. Pre- Covid, we would host art exhibitions with different Latino artists that worked with non-profit organizations and we donated our commission to those organizations.
WFYB: What brewery activities/fitness events do you host?
D: We host Noche Latina once a month where we offer a free hour-long dance class before the party begins. We do this on the third Saturday of the month starting at 9 PM.
WFYB: What’s one fact people don’t know about Salud Cerveceria?
D: I am from the Dominican Republic and everything we do at Salud has my heritage behind it. We try to do everything with intention and purpose.
WFYB: What makes Salud Cerveceria unique? Why should someone stop by your brewery versus the plethora of other breweries in Charlotte, NC?
D: We are very different, we are not your typical banjo-playing brewery. We are Latino-owned so our music is always different. We are either playing old-school hip hop, reggaeton, salsa, merengue, or bachata. We love being different from everyone else, even if that sets us apart from the rest.
WFYB: Why do you support the #WorkForYourBeer mantra?
D: Because you are all badass females that we love dearly and love the idea of supporting a healthy (but also fun!) drinking environment.
Thank you to Dairelyn and Salud Cerveceria for taking the time to chat with us here on the Work For Your Beer blog. We are such huge fans of this brewery — we encourage y'all to stop by the next time you're in NoDa!
