Food & Beer Pairing: American Wheat Beer
We know it can be difficult to pair beer with your meals.
This week, we are pairing an American Wheat Beer with a Mediterranean Grain Bowl with Chickpeas!

Mediterranean Grain Bowl with Chickpeas
Paired with American Wheat Beer
Makes 2 servings
Ingredients
1 cup water
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup whole wheat couscous (uncooked)
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon orange juice
½ tablespoon lemon juice
½ tablespoon honey
A pinch of salt
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 tablespoon of fresh basil, chopped
½ cup grape tomatoes, quartered
½ cup cucumbers, sliced
½ cup red bell pepper
¼ cup red onion, finely diced
⅔ cup chickpeas
¼ cup hummus
1 ounce feta cheese, crumbled
2 cups baby spinach
Directions:
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup water, 2 tablespoons olive oil, and ¼ teaspoon salt in a small saucepan.
Bring to a boil.
Remove saucepan from heat and add 1 cup whole wheat couscous, stir, cover with lid, and allow to steam for 5 minutes.
Fluff couscous with a fork and measure 1.5 cups of cooked couscous (refrigerate any additional for other use)
Add olive oil, orange juice, lemon juice, honey, salt, black pepper, and basil to a mason jar and shake until combined.
Combine tomatoes, bell pepper, cucumber, and red onion in a small bowl.
Add vinaigrette to the vegetable mixture.
Assemble the grain bowls with couscous, chickpeas, marinated vegetables, spinach, hummus, and feta cheese.
